THE CYNICS
About the band
Legendary garage rock institution from Pittsburgh, active since 1983 and founders of the influential independent label Get Hip Records. USA Today hailed their album Here We Are as "one of the best neo-garage-rock albums in years." Adam toured and recorded with the band during the late 2000s.
In My Words
The Cynics came into my life when garage rock did, when living in Normal, IL. Somehow I went from hard rock, to blues, then found 60s style garage rock via the coolest record store ever, Mother Murphy's. I had all the Cynics albums, and The Last Vegas hopped on a bill with them in Champaign, IL. They asked my brother Nathan to play drums with them soon after, and then asked me to fill in on bass for a few years after that. Same playbook as UO, ha, but Cynics were first! Michael and Gregg are true legends, coolest guys ever. The Last Vegas put out our first two albums on Get Hip Records (run by Gregg). They were our rock'n'roll parents for a while, between 2004 and 2008.
